Our World Celebrates Volunteering in WAGGGS

The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) celebrated the European Year of Volunteering and the International Year of Volunteering+10 in their June edition of "Our World," WAGGGS quarterly magazine distributed to 145 Member Organizations around the world, external partners and other supporters. As WAGGGS celebrates the centenary of Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting and "100 years of changing lives" this edition highlights the many ways in which Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting has enabled millions of volunteers to make a difference to the world around them.

Volunteering is an inherent part of WAGGGS mission and this issue of Our World also highlights the different reasons our members have for volunteering and the different opportunities which result, from growing their leadership skills, developing an international network of friends and colleagues and making a contribution to creating a better world. Viviane Reding, EU Vice-President and commissioner for Justice Fundamental Rights and Citizenship also shared her perspective on the European Year of Volunteering with Our World readers – you can read the article here.
