Mental Health Europe (MHE) - Santé Mentale Europe is a European non-governmental organisation committed to the promotion of positive mental health, the prevention of mental distress, the improvement of care, advocacy for social inclusion and the protection of human rights for (ex-)users of mental health services, their families and carers.

Many volunteers help out in the mental health field and give valuable support to the reintegration process of people with mental health problems. On the other hand, people who are suffering from mental health problems themselves often take up volunteer positions in the community which is beneficial for their inclusion in the community. MHE organized an awareness-raising event at the European Parliament on the 17th of November 2010 on "volunteering as a tool for social inclusion of people with mental health problems" in view of 2011 European Year of Volunteering.
