The World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) is a volunteer driven organisation where it is by, for and with volunteers. The focus of the Organisation in its European Region is on supporting the National Scout Organisations (NSOs) to deliver the Scout educational method at its best. Support to NSOs is delivered by expert teams of volunteers. European Scouting has been involving approximately 100 volunteers in the delivery of this support in 2008 to the hundreds of thousands volunteers across Europe (continuing the performance of the last triennium 2004-2007).
As being such a strong voluntary movement, WOSM is investing a lot within the organization on the training, developments of the skills, motivation, management and recruitment of volunteers. In order to ensure that Scouting can grow, WOSM is also advocating for volunteering, for an enabling environment of volunteers and their organisations towards different stakeholders, being national authorities, European authorities or at the United Nations.
